The name Mandagoras comes from a rare mystical plant that can be found in Sifnos for the perseverant explorers. It is said to have been used in Ancient Greece as Love Medicine.
Built on a sloping site, the house develops along the curves of levels; inspired by the ancestral constructions of the Greek islands and their traditional retaining walls.
To avoid imposing themselves in the landscape, the outer spaces are also contained in a longitudinal band; thus, forming a courtyard separating the building in two.
The spaces are reduced to the minimum, in a concern of economy of means and in a will of simplicity.
The house is built of stone directly extracted from the ground of the site, and combined with the structural concrete and the wood of the pergola.
Architecture by Alexandre Pavlidis.
